It's really hard for me to admit I need help, and it's really hard to admit that I need someone. So, when you don't bother to call me back or show up because you knew something was bothering me, what does that mean? Do you really want to be here, or have you just been working really hard to fuck me over? You're the person who says that you understand me better than anyone, and you are the person that wants forever. Right now, you aren't worth the time I spent writing this.
Yes, I'll be fine. Yes, I'll survive. But, the next time I don't let you in, don't be surprised.

| What Your Bathroom Habits Say About You |
Your idea of fashion is jeans and a t-shirt. Clean, if you're lucky. You have the perfect blend of confidence and class. You're proud of who you are - but you don't broadcast it. In relationships, you tend to be very romantic and demanding. You'll treat your partner like gold, but you expect a lot in return. |

Despite the title of this blog...
Everything sucks.
I am working graveyard shift at a job where I was hired for days shift. I worked 2-10 last week, and was on call until 0800 when someone else got into the office. Then, I was on call all weekend, only to go into work at 9pm Sunday, and work until 5 AM, and then remain on call until 9Am. Repeat, ad nauseum.
My boss seems to be having a midlife crisis. No, he hasn't bought a little red sports car. He is buying an electric blue motor bike, and getting tattoos. Need I say much more about that?
I sliced the tip off of my finger yesterday just before I headed for work. Better yet.
So in closing, everything sucks.

Personally, I find this inspiring... :)
APPLICATION FOR EMPLOYMENT
This is an actual job application submitted for a fast-food establishment.......
NAME: Greg Bulmash
DESIRED POSITION: Reclining. Ha ha. But seriously, whatever's available. If I was in a position to be picky, I wouldn't be applying here in the first place.
DESIRED SALARY: $185,000 a year plus stock options and a Michael Ovitz style severance package. If that's not possible, make an offer and we can haggle.
EDUCATION: Yes.
LAST POSITION HELD: Target for middle-management hostility.
SALARY: Less than I'm worth.
MOST NOTABLE ACHIEVEMENT: My incredible collection of stolen pens and post-it notes.
REASON FOR LEAVING: It sucked.
HOURS AVAILABLE TO WORK: Any.
PREFERRED HOURS: 1:30-3:30 p.m., Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday.
DO YOU HAVE ANY SPECIAL SKILLS?: Yes, but they're better suited to a more intimate environment.
MAY WE CONTACT YOUR CURRENT EMPLOYER?: If I had one, would I be here?
DO YOU HAVE ANY PHYSICAL CONDITIONS THAT WOULD PROHIBIT YOU FROM LIFTING UP TO 50 LBS?: Of what?
DO YOU HAVE A CAR?: I think the more appropriate question here would be "Do you have a car that runs?"
HAVE YOU RECEIVED ANY SPECIAL AWARDS OR RECOGNITION?: I may already be a winner of the Publishers Clearinghouse Sweepstakes.
DO YOU SMOKE?: Only when set on fire.
WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO BE DOING IN FIVE YEARS?: Living in Bimini with a fabulously wealthy supermodel who thinks I'm the greatest thing since sliced bread. Actually, I'd like to be doing that now.
DO YOU CERTIFY THAT THE ABOVE IS TRUE AND COMPLETE TO THE BEST OF YOUR KNOWLEDGE?: No, but I dare you to prove otherwise.

| You Are a Chocolate Martini | |||||||||||
You should never: Drink and dash. You're gonna get caught leaving someone with the tab! Your ideal party: A posh celebrity party you crash, with an open bar. Your drinking soulmates: those with a Classic Martini personality Your drinking rivals: those with a Blueberry Martini personality http://www.blogthings.com/whatflavormartiniareyouquiz/ Friday, August 18, 2006I guess time does fly
Because I just realized how long it has been since I have posted anything. However, little interesting has happened. I've taken a week of holidays that I regret, because I never accomplished anything that I actually wanted to do on a weeks vacation. The house is still a mess, the yard is still a mess, etc... I took my time off the same time as another friend, who to be polite I will call High Maintenance. HM tried to spend every waking moment of this week with me, and got right down and crabby in the unlikely event that I mananged to explain to him that I had something else to do in a specific time slot. I'm mad that I let it happen, and mad that the week is wasted.
But enough of that. Aside from that, it's just been a lot of working. My boss is still moving ahead with his divorce. I really like him, but all the signs are pointing to a midlife crisis. I didn't think him the sort of person to suffer that. I feel bad for him and his wife: they seemed like they were good together, and were always going to be good together. I guess you get surprised. Schaughn Thursday, July 27, 2006And look what the cat dragged in...
Strange thing. I went for coffee with my friend Paul this evening. We departed from our usual place (Broadway Roastery at Five Corners) because of undesireable company. So, we went instead to the Roastery on 8th Street. Who should I find there, but my old roommate from when I first moved to Calgary. I shared an apartment with him when I moved in with an old boyfriend for a summer. I haven't seen Jerald for...six years?
He's moved back to Saskatoon also, and looking for a job. I gave him my phone number, and asked him to call me so we could catch up. He was sitting with someone else I know, but thankfully did not remember me. I was asking a friend of mine that lives in Calgary if he had seen Jerald, but was told no...I guess it goes to show that you should never speak of the Devil. I do hope he actually calls. It might make for an interesting evening. Schaughn Sunday, July 09, 2006I wonder if anyone ever reads this space aside from Ariia??
Since I noticed that it has been some time since I have posted anything. I guess I've been busy. Work has been hectic; people that we have just hired have to leave for very legit reasons. Nothing that has caused me stress at work has really been my fault, but are just a part of life. Life just decided to hit me all at once, I think. So, my boss and I get to start training a person all over again. Sigh...
My roommate/ tennant/ friend who lives in the basment's parents are here, and have been working on my house with/ for me. They've been mostly working on her portion of the house which is fine. It is all supposed to get done at some point: why not now? They've spent money they shouldn't have however, on a deep freeze, and they are trying to find a patio set. GRRR. They are very nice, good people and I don't ever want them to think anything other than I enjoy their visits, and would enjoy them just as much if they left the tools at home. I've managed, through sheer will, to start getting rid of some excess items in my house. I've decided that if I cannot explain where I will actually use an item again, away it goes. Gone to date: Some clothes set of mugs dishwasher shower doors up for grabs- orange couch. Sad, because I am attached to these items. A lot of tears have been shed on that orange couch. The one in the living room right now is just not the same. But, I've also had it for 10 years. Relationships breaking down, a friend that died, a woman who I thought I would have married telling me "No, not you". She's currently in the process of a divorce. Perhaps she didn't pick as well as she had hoped. No, I am not still bitter. I just type that way. :P I also have company coming this next week, so it would be nice to clear out the house a bit, and perhaps even find the guest room. :) Schaughn Friday, June 16, 2006Tuesday, May 30, 2006Four score, and a few cars ago...
It's strange the memories that come back to you, unbidden.
I was just sitting here, kind of thinking of nothing, when a memory from about 6 years ago came back to me. I just had just moved to Calgary, and met my now ex boyfriend JC. We had picked up a guy that he was chatting with, named Phil. If I remember, Phil was from Toronto. I wonder what ever happened to him? I think he was a model; and if he wasn't he should have been. JC, Phil, and I were touring around Calgary in my Buick stationwagon. If you ever have the chance to buy an enormous station wagon, I highly recommend them. With us, was someone that Phil had met during his travels, who was a rather attractive young woman that I want to call Aimie...I had her email address once, but have since lost it. We went to a park in Calgary. North Glenmore, I believe. It was a beautiful night, and the park is right on the river, if memory serves. However, the park, unbeknownst to me, closes at sundown. So, it was also police and towtruck patrolled. My ginormic Buick was towed...away...No...wait, I had the Thunderbird then.... the truck wouldn't have been able to have moved the Buick... Strange how memories become more and more clear the more you think and dwell... So, it was a good thing that the night was beautiful, as we had to walk to the nearest pay phone to call both the police who informed me that my car was impounded, and then JC's parents to come and pick us up, and fetch the missing Ford. Generally, we were all lucky that his folks were the people they were, as few parents I know would have bailed their 20 something children/boyfriends/mystery friend from a park in the middle of the night, somewhere around 0300. We got the car, which had sustained a flat tire in the impound lot, sent JC home, and I dropped Phil off at his dorm, and got home entirely too late to go to work the next morning, which I did anyway. I wonder what other details of that night will come forward from the storehouse of my memory now that I have recalled this much? I remember Phil wanted me to come into his dorm...and I would have to suggest his intentions were not strictly honourable...:). I remember that. I wonder if he does? Why does any of this mean anything now, six years later? I don't know if it does. I doubt that it does. JC and I broke up. The Thunderbird died in Hanna AB, and is quietly rusting away on a farm... The Buick has been redone from stem to stern, and is dearly loved my an elderly couple, and I don't live in Alberta anymore. I've switched jobs a few times since then. I miss the person that I was then. I think in some ways I was a better person. I didn't have quite so many hard lessons under my belt. I think I trusted more; loved harder. I was younger and had fewer grey hairs. Those seem to visit me all too often, and decide to stay. I think a new one comes with each and every bill that is stuffed rudely into my mail box. Give them to the people across the street. I don't like them, and by all accounts they appear to have more than enough money, anyway. They looked at this house when they bought in this neighbourhood, I was told. They didn't think a lot of it. Good for you. Now I'm here, and I have a wonderful little old lady next door. My luck, your loss. What does this have to do with my original post? Not a whole lot, but it might be the most accurate stream of thought to have come out my head, and been expressed by my fingers in this whole blog so far. Schaughn Sunday, May 28, 2006Hi, My name is Schaughn, and I use Mary Kay.
I had a Mary Kay party this weekend. Yes, before you go and check out my information again, I am a man. My aunt recently started selling it, and asked me if I could have a show for her.
It actually went much better than I expected. While the turn out was smaller than I had hoped for, I think I might have actually hit an optimum size anyway. A male friend of mine that thought he was just coming over for a laugh left my house with about 70 dollars of product.... LOL! I have to admit, there is a good and fighting chance I'll have another one at some point... Right about when I run out of eye gel... Schaughn Sunday, May 21, 2006

Friday, May 19, 2006Fuck you and your minions too!![]() A kind and thankful letter to the fucknut who decided sometime last night that my car did not need a rear window. Thank you. I have little else to do today, other than pay for the ever growing list of things that I cannot manage, without adding a smashed rear window on the car to the list. Personally, I enjoy missing a day of work to talk to a police officer who seemed as overworked and stressed as I am feeling. I am glad that it is lunch time on a beautiful Friday, and I am sitting at home, waiting for quotes to get the car fixed, which again, I cannot afford, but will have to miraculously pull out of my ass. Karma is a bitch. If I happen to run over your stanky ass with my little broken car, I will do so with a smile on my face. Schaughn Wednesday, May 17, 2006And so I've surived
And yes, I knew I would live.
I am still disappointed. I had hoped for more. I really had. I guess it was not to be. I just don't know what comes now. I could get a few more cats...be the crazy cat guy...that might work for me... No... Hmm... Suggestions? Schaughn Sunday, May 07, 2006Saturday, May 06, 2006All about me!

Friday, May 05, 2006And so much for that.
"It was really good seeing you during your visit, and I enjoyed spending time with you, and I hope you enjoyed yourself too. Obviously one of the key reasons for your visit was so that we could see if there was anything between us, beyond a long distance infatuation. And I guess that test was successful, in that it did become very clear to me during your visit that the unresolved feelings I had for you were no longer there. Obviously this is neither a good thing nor a bad thing, it is just a self discovery of what feelings I really had for you after this amount of time."
I guess that's that. Is it wrong to admit in my blog that I'm crying? I think not, because I did say that I was going to be honest here. I think it's clear from my previous messages just how I feel. I just don't know what to think or feel. Now what? Schaughn Thursday, May 04, 2006I'm terrifed
I'm terrified that he won't be attracted to me like I am to him. I am scared that he won't want to try to develop anything because of the distance between Portland and Saskatoon. I really like him, and things I really want have a tendency to not happen...Sigh...
I've spent time praying, hoping that everything works out of the best. Ok...that's what part of me wants. The rest of me wants him to be the part that works out...Sigh... Schaughn Wednesday, May 03, 2006So I finally did something daring- for me
And this is going to be another thing.
To all of your fair readers out there, in Blogging land, I have news. I like sleeping with boys and girls... OK...that was cheezily euphemistic, wasn't it? However, I am not going to delete it, as I like it. I laughed. Perhaps you will to. If not, I'm not sorry to offend you. I've learned some valuable things about the person I want to be as of late. The other daring thing I did was visit a good friend in Portland, OR this weekend. Why is this daring? Because I've been very very very very (this template will not allow me to use the full number of very's required to express this emotion. Just assume infinity) attracted to for a number of years. No Ariia, I did not get laid. I did have a good time with a person that makes me feel good about myself. Anyone that knows me knows that is a task in of itself. I like the person I am with him. I like how I feel with him. I like the way I feel when I put my head on his shoulder. I like that he can challenge and stimulate me intellectually. For those of you who have seen pictures, not only do I find him blindingly attractive physically, I do intellectually, also. I was reminded of just how much better he looks in person as compared to his pictures. (wistful sigh) Ok. I am not going to wax Shakespeare, and compare him to a summers day; although I could. You are asking why this is daring? Because it is not at all like me. I'm pretty dull. I wish I could say something more positive about myself. Also, I am not sure how I should ask him if he still has feelings for me. I did not do it while I was there for a variety of reasons, that all still make sense since I have returned home. Is it wrong to want to move to another country for a man? A really hot man? A really hot man with his own house, a good job, and a truck? And a nice package?? And a killer singing voice? This is getting shallow....and I like it.... :) Schaughn Monday, April 03, 2006Sunday, April 02, 2006It seems I should actually write something...
Because I've been putting that off for a while.
Let me ask you a question. If you loved someone, who was married to someone else, would you wait for them when you were told "Just wait a little longer"? Or would you run like Hell? Six years ago, I chose to wait. I've left for periods in between, admittedly. I've had relationships in those six years, but all were doomed because I kept coming back to the Married One. Is that my fault? Absolutely. But those six years have passed, and I am home alone in a three bedroom house, with two cats, and two fish. And that is what waiting has brought me. Tuesday, March 14, 2006http://www.blogthings.com/whatdoesyourcandyheartsayquiz/![]() http://www.blogthings.com/whatdoesyourcandyheartsayquiz/ You're a bit of a cynic when it comes to love. You don't lose your head, and hardly anyone penetrates your heart. Your ideal Valentine's Day date: is all about the person you're seeing (with no mentions of v-day!) Your flirting style: honest and even slightly sarcastic What turns you off: romantic expectations and "greeting card" holidays Why you're hot: you don't just play hard to get - you are hard to get. Monday, March 13, 2006How was your day, Dear?
http://www.blogthings.com/whatkindofcoffeeareyouquiz/
Lets start out there. How was my day, you might ask. Well, the car is still broken. I was alone at work today. The dispatch cell seems to have a vexing amount of lines available for people to call me on. My shift may be changing from my slack assed 10- whenever shift, to a rotating 24 hour shift. My hair is still going grey. And I suspect I'm whiny. Saturday, March 11, 2006Yes Ariia, I'll post![]() ![]() The two pictures above are of my two kitties, Tokyo and Fluffy. I did not name Fluffy, but thought I should post sometihing pertaining to them since she is in my lap right now. Happiness is a warm cat on a cold snowy day. I live in the same city as my friend Ariia- http://ariiasbrain.blogspot.com. I went out for lunch with her today, and she chided me for not posting more. She seems to forget that she isn't always consistent, either. :P So what could I tell you today? I broke my car. I have a wonderful car. I have a 2002 Chevy Malibu. If you are looking at one, and want to know if you should buy it, the answer is yes. However, at the moment Alice the Malibu is quietly tucked into the garage with an unknown ailment. I have a metal scraping noise coming from the back end. That is one of my least favourite possible problems. It makes me panic. What is the noise like? It sounds like a headache. I spent a good portion of my evening waiting for a guy from Freecycle to come over. If you are not familiar with Freecycle, look them up at Freecycle.org. It's worth your time. I have an old computer monitor that is just taking up space right now. The guy that was to get the monitor is from a charity called Neighbourhood Link, that is teaching underprivileged people how to use computers, create and improve resumes and the like. However, he never showed up. Not sure what is up with that. Annoyed. I am still stuck in relationship Heck. It isn't Hell. I've been there before, and this isn't it. I'm stressed, but I just might get over it. Maybe. If I can stop whining about it. Me. Wednesday, March 01, 2006Happy New Month.
I am not sure if I have anything to actually post today. I thought I would just start writing, and see where I ended up.
Don't worry. I'll try not to end up cheezily philosophical here. I didn't do all that much today. My co-worker was back in the office today, after having suffered a sprained shoulder, or at least that is what the doctor thinks it is. He may also have torn his rotator cuff. So, work was less hectic than it had been for the last week. I putterred quietly around the house this evening. I attempted to clean up the computer room. I nearly made a dent. I think I need to devote more time to cleaning. Or, as a friend of mine would tell me, I need to devote time to World of Warcraft. Tough call. Yes Ariia, I am talking about you. The same friend of mine had an essay that I proofed for her. We spent time discussing where the apostrophe for a proper noun ending in "s", used possessively should place. Jesus's, or Jesus'? Apparently, both are correct, and interchangeable. I hope. Have a lot on my mind lately, all having to do with relationships. What a disaster. I don't think I am up to posting on that front tonight. I have a tough decision to make. The obvious choice isn't necessarily the right one. Just remember that. I hope I can. Schaughn Sunday, February 26, 2006I want a baby.
Is that the wrong thing to say the second time I post? Does it come across as desperate? Does it make you raise an eyebrow that a late 20 something man wants a baby?
Too bad. Because I do. I went to a baby shower today. A very good friend and a wonderful woman had a beautiful baby boy a few weeks ago. He was named Graham. He's the sweetest thing. He never cried, barely fussed, and just generally behaved. He did manage to spit up twice, but that was on his Mom, so it's still all good. I'll admit I'm a little nervous around babies that small, but I held him in my hands. All he did was stare at me. No crying. No squirming. I realize that if ever I do manage to have children, they will not be as well behaved as Graham was today. Also, this might just be the calm before the storm, and he might grow up to be a real hellraiser. But, looking at his parents, he would manage to be a heartbreaker too, so he would just manage to get away with it. He'll end up tall, blond, green/ blue eyed, and broad shouldered. What bad genes did this kid get, anyway? :) I'm going to leave the reasons why I don't know if I'll ever have children for 2 later posts. Why? Because there are 2 different reasons that I may never have kids. I have a few distinct, different, and very real problems pertinent to that issue. I've always pictured myself having children, even though for the last several years I haven't managed to picture a spouse with me. I own a house with 5 bedrooms; 3 on the main floor, and two in the basement. I'm reminded of a line in "Under the Tuscan Sun", where the principle character bemoans her life, saying "I've bought a house for a life that I don't even have". That's how I feel. I use one bedroom. Another bedroom holds the computer that I am using now, bookcases, and a litter box. The other room is full of a guest bed, boxes that I haven't unpacked, and a sewing machine. The basement is rented out to a good friend of mine. However, that isn't what I picture. I can see having a child in this house, maybe a little girl. She could have this room; it's sunny, west facing, and large. It's open enough that I could put in a bay window with a window seat for her. When I moved in, I found that this room was once painted pink. It was a perfect little girls room shade of pink. It's yellow now, which could also work. Lilacs bloom just outside this window, which is shaded by a young maple tree. I don't care if she wants a dog, or fifteen. I don't care if she thinks I should drive a minivan, a sports car, or a Volkswagen bus. I don't care if she is a he. I've wanted children for so long. It just seems that won't happen for more and more reasons. That makes me sad, and feeling empty. Thursday, February 23, 2006First shot at this...
...but hopefully not the last. I thought I would give this forum a shot, but not because I have anything interesting to say. I thought I would start this because I need somewhere to practice writing, and the idea of making the personal public (or semi-public) is sort of appealing.
Why do I need to practice writing? Because I am a former English Honours student, who has not used his degree in the six years since he has obtained it. I've been working with concrete, furniture, and truckers since I graduated. These are not fields conducive to thought, let alone anything inspired. The truckers and the concrete have more in common than one might guess, but I think I will leave that for another entry. I'm Canadian. Please don't hold that against me. I'm young, but old enough that I am not going to tell you how old I am. So there. I own a car, and a house. What does that mean? Between the student loans, the mortgage, and the car loan, I am broke. Maxed out. Tapped. Mortgaged to the hilt. Considering passing around a collection plate. Does that sound sad? Did I inspire you to send me cash? I thought not. :) I try to be a wit, but often fail. Why? I think I try too hard. That, and I have a very slight stutter. So, often when delivering the punch line, I screw it up. I try to be a good person, but often fail. I would think that we all do, but I really think that I might have a worse track record than most. I think I'll get into those issues in future blogs though. Why outright ruin your opinion of me now, when I can slowly do it over time? Schaughn.
